Potatoes, bacon and onions… the three basic ingredients that no true 'Bratkartoffeln' recipe should be without. We know there is no single, unvarying way of preparing this typical German delicacy… So how about trying our True Spices version?
Ingredients:
- 4 medium-sized waxy potatoes
- 150 g Bacon
- 1 medium onion
- Salt
- True Spices Bratkartoffel Gewürz Bio
- A nut size of unsalted butter
- Oil
Directions:
Boil the potatoes in plenty of water.
Once cooked, peel them and cut them into slices approximately half a centimetre thick.
Cut the bacon into strips or small cubes.
Chop the onion, also into small cubes.
Cook the bacon in a large frying pan over medium heat. When done, remove and place on absorbent paper to remove excess fat.
In the same fat that the bacon has released in the frying pan, cook the onion. When the onion is transparent, remove and mix with the bacon. Set aside.
In the same frying pan, add butter or a drizzle of olive oil and add the previously cooked potato slices.
Try not to crowd the potatoes in the pan. Turn the potatoes so that they brown on both sides, being careful not to burn them.
When they are almost done, add a teaspoon or two (to taste) of our True Spices Bratkartoffel Bio. Add the reserved bacon and onion and stir gently to combine.
Finish with a sprinkling of chives for garnish and enjoy!
